Synchronize
Breathing new life into classic and contemporary films through re-imagined soundtracks, this is our live DJ film re-scoring project. Featured by Turner Classic Movies and performed at the Sundance Film Festival and at events around the globe, SYNCHRONIZE re-scores are a unique and innovative revisit to favorite films.

Synchronize Re-Score

A new score can alter an audience's sympathies, can enhance the power of the visuals and infuse an older film with a new-found energy and emotional resonance.

SYNCHRONIZE Re-Score is an ambitious audio and video adventure featuring a live DJ re-scoring of a feature film running in real time. Thomas Golubic leads his audience on a re-imagined soundscape of both classic and undiscovered films, drawing from early jazz to Jamaican dub, from modern hip hop to new millenial funk, and all places in between.

SYNCHRONIZE Re-Score shows films in real-time and in their entirety. The audience can hear the film's dialogue track´, but English subtitles also run below the screen. Thomas 're-scores' the film live by mixing in new music, taking out the film's original score, or enhancing it with new textures and percussion. All the different elements (from CD and turntable and DVD sources) are integrated into one cohesive and compelling listening experience. 'Re-scoring' a film can change the film-watching experience dramatically. A new score can alter an audience's sympathies, can enhance the power of the visuals and infuse an older film with a new-found energy and emotional resonance. SYNCHRONIZE Re-Score attempts to change the way you experience watching films.

SYNCHRONIZE live

is the flip version of the same coin as SYNCHRONIZE re-score. With SYNCHRONIZE re-score, the concept is to re-imagine old films through new music, with SYNCHRONIZE live, it is to re-imagine new music through old films. Concepts are developed in collaboration with different editors and final montages are performed live, music synchronized to visuals.

SYNCHRONIZE live was first developed for the 2003 Sundance Film Festival, and has since been produced and performed at Sundance 2004 & 2005, for MGM’s New York launch of the Pink Panther DVD box, the Sundance debut of the Chan-Wook Park film “Old Boy”, the YouTube launch of ‘Screening Room’ and a number of other events and projects. We hope you enjoy our work.
